ELD flap
Your anatomy is unique, so the surgeons at Restore will create a customised treatment plan specifically for you. There are several different ways your breast reconstruction can be accomplished, including ELD reconstruction.
ELD reconstruction involves removing tissue from the tummy, upper thighs, buttocks or back to build a new breast mound. This procedure requires major initial surgery, but results in a more natural feeling breast, excellent long-term results, and a lower rate of revision compared to an implant reconstruction.
Advantages
Greater similarity in the texture, shape and behaviour between the reconstructed breast and the opposite breast. The reconstructed breast gains, loses weight and changes shape together with the normal side.
Lower rate of revision than implants.
Disadvantages
A complex surgery - complications can occur with both the reconstruction and the ‘donor site’.
The additional scars on your body (where the tissue has come from) may have its own problems with healing and pain after surgery.
Procedure takes longer to carry out, a longer stay in hospital and a longer recovery period than implant reconstruction.
