What happens after eyelid surgery?

You may experience various forms of discomfort after surgery. There may be swelling or bruising, but this should go within 2 weeks. Painkillers can be prescribed to manage symptoms.

Sometimes patients experience abnormal skin pigmentation on the eyelid or excess tears, but these are normally temporary.

You may experience difficulties in closing your eyes, but this is normally temporary and can be managed with eye drops.

Large sunglasses should be worn after your procedure, and contact lenses are prohibited for some time. It's beneficial to avoid stooping or doing strenuous activity for five days as this reduces the risk of bleeding.
